This Week in Plugins
The MS-2 Gamble When it comes to VST plugins, trying them out always sparks a sense of wariness. So when I first learned of the MS-2 plugin by Mensla, I hesitated to give it a shot. After all, how remarkable could this FM synth truly be? |
I chose to take the plunge, and discovered a pleasant surprise. While the GUI may not please the eye, the sound quality more than makes up for it. With only 3 operators, it can appear limited at first. But the waveforms and modulation options provide flexibility.
All in all, the MS-2 plugin exhibits potential. It may not be perfect, but I recommend giving it a try. You can download it here.
Triplets in Fruity Delay
The Tip
Use a triplet delay in Fruity Delay to create a unique effect.
Why?
A triplet delay repeats sound in a rhythmic pattern of three, delivering a captivating effect that deepens and animates your music. Combined with reverb or distortion, it builds a multi-layered soundscape that mesmerizes the listener.
Tell me more.
Use triplet delay in Fruity Delay by adding the plugin to your mixer. Then adjust the delay time to 1:16, 2:32, or 5:16. Experiment with adding reverb or distortion for a more complex sound.
It’s best to use triplet delay carefully to avoid clutter and chaos. After all, triplet delay is a powerful effect. When used correctly, it adds a unique rhythmic element that sets your music apart!
See it in action.
There’s an easy way to achieve a triplet delay. Look at the animation below to see how to set a triplet timing in Fruity Delay.
